Editorial policy
How we source what we publish: every clinical claim attributed and linked, evidence strength labeled, limits stated — and corrections fixed openly.
We are not veterinarians
Nobody on this site holds a veterinary qualification, and we do not employ a vet to review our content. We think you should know that up front, because plenty of sites in this space imply clinical authority they do not have. What we do instead is narrower and, we think, more honest: we report what the research and veterinary institutions say, and we link to them so you can check.
The rules we hold ourselves to
- Every clinical statement is attributed to a named source and linked.
- We label evidence strength: Research shows (peer-reviewed studies), Experts advise (veterinary bodies, welfare organizations, board-certified behaviorists) and Our rule of thumb (a practical step we chose where no study sets one).
- Where a study is small, industry-funded, correlational or contradicted by others, we say so.
- We never give medication doses, diagnoses or guaranteed timelines.
- Every clinical page points you to a vet, and lists the red flags that mean you shouldn’t go it alone.
- We never use before/after claims or testimonials as evidence of outcome, and we never publish fake reviews.
- Commercial relationships never change a recommendation. When the right answer is someone else’s product — or no product — we say so.
Our sources
Peer-reviewed veterinary and behavior research (journal details from Crossref or PubMed), and guidance from bodies including the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior, the American College of Veterinary Surgeons, AAHA, FVE and WSAVA, the ASPCA, RSPCA and PDSA, VCA Animal Hospitals and the US FDA. Images
Our illustrations are digitally painted with AI assistance and edited by us. Product images show the real pages of our products. We don’t use AI-generated “customers”.
Corrections
If you find something inaccurate — particularly if you are a veterinary professional — please tell us. We will correct it and note the change. We would rather be corrected than be wrong in public.
